We’re almost hitting the nail in the coffin with the UX Challenges. Here we have a new challenge that evolves writing a push app notification.

UX Writing Challenge: Day 13

Scenario: A short-haul truck driver has a phone app that monitors his route, schedule, fuel & deliveries.

He has 6 more deliveries before stopping for fuel and lunch. Due to unexpected traffic, he’s behind schedule.

He can choose to stay on his planned route for a few more stops, but risk running low on fuel and missing lunch, or he can get fuel and lunch now and finish the deliveries later.

Challenge: Write a push notification alerting him of this dilemma and options.

Headline: 30 characters max

Body: 45 characters max

Button(s): 25 characters max

Strategy:

Now going into this content, you can create a sloe of ideas; particularly with what you want the person to do for this notification. Plus, there is the chance a person can swipe away the notification and continue going on their route.

• One option can be to stop and grab gas, then go back on the road.

• You could say take a break here are directions for the next rest stop.

• Or it could be stated to not overdue yourself and take a break,

I wanted to reassure the user that lunch is valuable and that they should take moment to breathe. One of the best things we UX writers should do is guide them and show them what can be the best options for them.

For my first start I came up with this mock draft:

Headline: Thinking about lunch

Body: You are low on fuel and have 6 stops left.

Button: Take a break | Dismiss

Figma:

Conclusion:

What’s most important in any design is the way we communicate with our users. We must make sure they are being notified and directed for tall the best or worst-case sceneries. The better we can assist them the better the results can be from their end.
